Amazobenna reticulata Penny, 1980 is currently considered as a valid taxon of species rank in the family Cixiidae Spinola, 1839 of the Fulgoromorpha. This species was first described by Penny N. D. in 1980 in the following paper: A revision of American Bennini (Hemiptera: Fulgoroidea: Cixiidae). Acta Amazonica, 10(1) : 207-212.
It is currently classified in order Hemiptera Linné, 1758, suborder Fulgoromorpha Evans, 1946, superfamily Delphacoidea Leach, 1815, family Cixiidae Spinola, 1839, subfamily Cixiinae Spinola, 1839, tribe Bennarellini Emeljanov, 1989, genus Amazobenna Penny, 1980, and it represents the type species for its genus.
Amazobenna reticulata is an extant taxon.
