W. in 1909 in the following paper: A conspectus of the Fulgoridae of the Hawaiian Hemiptera. Proceedings of the Hawaiian Entomological Society. Honolulu, 2: 75-80.

It is currently classified in order Hemiptera Linné, 1758, suborder Fulgoromorpha Evans, 1946, superfamily Delphacoidea Leach, 1815, family Cixiidae Spinola, 1839, subfamily Cixiinae Spinola, 1839, tribe Pentastirini Emeljanov, 1971, subtribe Pentastirina Emeljanov, 1971, genus Oliarus Stål, 1862.
