Granadus Gnezdilov & Den Bieman, 2018 is currently considered as a valid taxon of genus rank in the family Issidae Spinola, 1839 of the Fulgoromorpha. This genus was first described by Den Bieman C. F. M. and Gnezdilov V. M. in 2018 in the following paper: New genus and new species of the family Issidae (Hemiptera: Auchenorrhyncha: Fulgoroidea) from Southern Spain. Proceedings of the Zoological Institute RAS, 322(4) : 389-397.
It is currently classified in order Hemiptera Linné, 1758, suborder Fulgoromorpha Evans, 1946, superfamily Fulgoroidea Latreille, 1807, family Issidae Spinola, 1839, subfamily Hysteropterinae Melichar, 1906.
Granadus is monospecific. The type species of the genus is Granadus albirhombus Gnezdilov & Den Bieman, 2018.
Granadus is an extant taxon.
2. Granadus Gnezdilov & Den Bieman, 2018 geographical distribution and bioregions
According to the geographical TDWG standard (2001), Granadus Gnezdilov & Den Bieman, 2018 are known from the Palaearctic biogeographical region as defined by Wallace (1876). More precisely, they are distributed in the Eurasian zoogeographic region as defined by Holt (2013). Figures 1 and 2 display dynamic graphs showcasing the longitudinal and latitudinal profiles of Granadus Gnezdilov & Den Bieman, 2018 arround the across the globe according to their species richness. A scroll on the histogram bars displays the species richness of the corresponding regions.
3. Granadus Gnezdilov & Den Bieman, 2018 biological interactions
As all planthoppers, Granadus Gnezdilov & Den Bieman, 2018 are obligatory phytophagous terrestrial insects.
