1. Amnisa Stål, 1862 taxonomy
Amnisa Stål, 1862 is currently considered as a valid taxon of genus rank in the family Issidae Spinola, 1839 of the Fulgoromorpha. This genus was first described by Stål C. in 1862 in the following paper: Bidrag till Rio de Janeiro-tratkens Hemipterfauna.II. Handlingar. Kongliga Svenska Vetenskaps Akademien. Stockholm, 3(6) : 1-75.
It is currently classified in order Hemiptera Linné, 1758, suborder Fulgoromorpha Evans, 1946, superfamily Fulgoroidea Latreille, 1807, family Issidae Spinola, 1839, subfamily Thioniinae Melichar, 1906, tribe Thioniini Melichar, 1906.
Currently 3 species have been described in Amnisa, as summarized in Table 1.

The type species of the genus is Amnisa singularis Stål, 1862.
Amnisa is an extant taxon.
2. Amnisa Stål, 1862 geographical distribution and bioregions
According to the geographical TDWG standard (2001), Amnisa Stål, 1862 are known from the Neotropical biogeographical region as defined by Wallace (1876). More precisely, they are distributed in the South American zoogeographic region as defined by Holt (2013).
