1. Kivupterum Dlabola, 1985 taxonomy
Kivupterum Dlabola, 1985 is currently considered as a valid taxon of genus rank in the family Issidae Spinola, 1839 of the Fulgoromorpha. This genus was first described by Dlabola J. in 1985 in the following paper: Neue mediterrane, eremische und ostafrikanische Issiden Taxone (Hom. Auchenorrhyncha). Acta Entomologica Musei Nationalis Pragae, 40 B(3-4) : 217-243.
It is currently classified in order Hemiptera Linné, 1758, suborder Fulgoromorpha Evans, 1946, superfamily Fulgoroidea Latreille, 1807, family Issidae Spinola, 1839, subfamily Hemisphaeriinae Melichar, 1906, . Hemisphaeriinae incertae sedis .
Currently 3 species have been described in Kivupterum, as summarized in Table 1.

The type species of the genus is Kivupterum saudicum (Dlabola, 1979).
Kivupterum is an extant taxon.
2. Kivupterum Dlabola, 1985 geographical distribution and bioregions
According to the geographical TDWG standard (2001), Kivupterum Dlabola, 1985 are known from the Afrotropical and Palaearctic biogeographical regions as defined by Wallace (1876). More precisely, they are distributed in the African and Saharo-Arabian zoogeographic regions as defined by Holt (2013). Figures 1 and 2 display dynamic graphs showcasing the longitudinal and latitudinal profiles of Kivupterum Dlabola, 1985 arround the across the globe according to their species richness. 3. Kivupterum Dlabola, 1985 biological interactions
As all planthoppers, Kivupterum Dlabola, 1985 are obligatory phytophagous terrestrial insects.
