1. Atretus yangi (Tsaur, 1989) taxonomy

Atretus yangi (Tsaur, 1989) is currently considered as a valid taxon of species rank in the family Cixiidae Spinola, 1839 of the Fulgoromorpha. This species was first described by Tsaur Shun-Chern in 1989 in the following paper: A new species of Olarius from Taiwan (Homoptera, Fulgoroidea, Cixiidae). Bulletin of the Institute of Zoology Academia Sinica (Taipei), 28(3) : 171-174.

It is currently classified in order Hemiptera Linné, 1758, suborder Fulgoromorpha Evans, 1946, superfamily Delphacoidea Leach, 1815, family Cixiidae Spinola, 1839, subfamily Cixiinae Spinola, 1839, tribe Pentastirini Emeljanov, 1971, subtribe Pentastirina Emeljanov, 1971, genus Atretus Emeljanov, 2007.

Atretus yangi is an extant taxon.

2. Atretus yangi (Tsaur, 1989) geographical distribution and bioregions

According to the geographical TDWG standard (2001), Atretus yangi (Tsaur, 1989) are known from the Palaearctic biogeographical region as defined by Wallace (1876). More precisely, they are distributed in the Eurasian zoogeographic region as defined by Holt (2013). Figures 1 and 2 display dynamic graphs showcasing the longitudinal and latitudinal profiles of Atretus yangi (Tsaur, 1989) arround the across the globe according to their species richness. A scroll on the histogram bars displays the species richness of the corresponding regions.

3. Atretus yangi (Tsaur, 1989) biological interactions

As all planthoppers, Atretus yangi (Tsaur, 1989) are obligatory phytophagous terrestrial insects.
