1. Philatis crockeri (Van Duzee, 1937) taxonomy

Philatis crockeri (Van Duzee, 1937) is currently considered as a valid taxon of species rank in the family Acanaloniidae Amyot & Audinet-Serville, 1843 of the Fulgoromorpha. This species was first described by Van Duzee E. P. in 1937 in the following paper: The Hemiptera of the Templeton Crocker Expedition to Polynesia in 1934-1935. Proceedings of the California Academy of Sciences. San Francisco. (Ser. 4), 22: 111-126.

It is currently classified in order Hemiptera Linné, 1758, suborder Fulgoromorpha Evans, 1946, superfamily Fulgoroidea Latreille, 1807, family Acanaloniidae Amyot & Audinet-Serville, 1843, genus Philatis Stål, 1862.

Philatis crockeri is an extant taxon.

2. Philatis crockeri (Van Duzee, 1937) geographical distribution and bioregions

According to the geographical TDWG standard (2001), Philatis crockeri (Van Duzee, 1937) are known from the Neotropical biogeographical region as defined by Wallace (1876). More precisely, they are distributed in the Amazonian zoogeographic region as defined by Holt (2013). Figures 1 and 2 display dynamic graphs showcasing the longitudinal and latitudinal profiles of Philatis crockeri (Van Duzee, 1937) arround the across the globe according to their species richness. A scroll on the histogram bars displays the species richness of the corresponding regions.

3. Philatis crockeri (Van Duzee, 1937) biological interactions

As all planthoppers, Philatis crockeri (Van Duzee, 1937) are obligatory phytophagous terrestrial insects.
