1. Penthicodes (Ereosoma) warleti Constant, 2010 taxonomy

Penthicodes (Ereosoma) warleti Constant, 2010 is currently considered as a valid taxon of species rank in the family Fulgoridae Latreille, 1807 of the Fulgoromorpha. This species was first described by Constant J. in 2010 in the following paper: The lanternfly genus Penthicodes: key to the species and review of the “Ereosoma group” with two new species and one new subspecies (Hemiptera: Fulgoromorpha: Fulgoridae). Zootaxa, 2523: 1-26.

It is currently classified in order Hemiptera Linné, 1758, suborder Fulgoromorpha Evans, 1946, superfamily Fulgoroidea Latreille, 1807, family Fulgoridae Latreille, 1807, subfamily Aphaeninae Blanchard, 1847, tribe Aphaenini Blanchard, 1847, genus Penthicodes Blanchard, 1845, subgenus Penthicodes (Ereosoma) Kirkaldy, 1906.

Penthicodes (Ereosoma) warleti is an extant taxon.

2. Penthicodes (Ereosoma) warleti Constant, 2010 geographical distribution and bioregions

According to the geographical TDWG standard (2001), Penthicodes (Ereosoma) warleti Constant, 2010 are known from the Oriental biogeographical region as defined by Wallace (1876). More precisely, they are distributed in the Oriental zoogeographic region as defined by Holt (2013). Figures 1 and 2 display dynamic graphs showcasing the longitudinal and latitudinal profiles of Penthicodes (Ereosoma) warleti Constant, 2010 arround the across the globe according to their species richness. A scroll on the histogram bars displays the species richness of the corresponding regions.

3. Penthicodes (Ereosoma) warleti Constant, 2010 biological interactions

As all planthoppers, Penthicodes (Ereosoma) warleti Constant, 2010 are obligatory phytophagous terrestrial insects; they mainly feed on host plants belonging to the following orders: Fagales (Fagaceae) and Theales (Clusiaceae).
Figure 3a depicts the orders of plants on which Penthicodes (Ereosoma) warleti Constant, 2010 feeds, and figure 3b the percentage they represent in the diet for the entire species. Figures 4a and 4b do the same more precisely for the family level of these plants.
