1. Scantinius bruchoides (Walker, 1858) taxonomy

Scantinius bruchoides (Walker, 1858) is currently considered as a valid taxon of species rank in the family Issidae Spinola, 1839 of the Fulgoromorpha. This species was first described by Walker F. in 1858 in the following paper: Supplement. 1-307.

It is currently classified in order Hemiptera Linné, 1758, suborder Fulgoromorpha Evans, 1946, superfamily Fulgoroidea Latreille, 1807, family Issidae Spinola, 1839, subfamily Hemisphaeriinae Melichar, 1906, tribe Parahiraciini Cheng & Yang, 1991, subtribe Scantiniina Bourgoin & Wang, 2020, genus Scantinius Stål, 1866, and it represents the type species for its genus.

Scantinius bruchoides is an extant taxon.

2. Scantinius bruchoides (Walker, 1858) geographical distribution and bioregions

According to the geographical TDWG standard (2001), Scantinius bruchoides (Walker, 1858) are known from the Oriental biogeographical region as defined by Wallace (1876). More precisely, they are distributed in the Indo-Malayan zoogeographic region as defined by Holt (2013). Figures 1 and 2 display dynamic graphs showcasing the longitudinal and latitudinal profiles of Scantinius bruchoides (Walker, 1858) arround the across the globe according to their species richness. A scroll on the histogram bars displays the species richness of the corresponding regions.

3. Scantinius bruchoides (Walker, 1858) biological interactions

As all planthoppers, Scantinius bruchoides (Walker, 1858) are obligatory phytophagous terrestrial insects.
