1. Delphacodes schinias Asche & Remane, 1983 taxonomy

Delphacodes schinias Asche & Remane, 1983 is currently considered as a valid taxon of species rank in the family Delphacidae Leach, 1815 of the Fulgoromorpha. This species was first described by Asche M. and Remane R. in 1983 in the following paper: Zur Problematik von Delphacodes mulsanti (Fieber 1866) und zur Kenntnis einiger benachbarter Taxa (Homoptera Auchenorrhyncha Fulgoromorpha Delphacidae) (Vorlaufige Mitteilung). Marburger Entomologische Publikationen, 1(8) : 25-56.

It is currently classified in order Hemiptera Linné, 1758, suborder Fulgoromorpha Evans, 1946, superfamily Delphacoidea Leach, 1815, family Delphacidae Leach, 1815, subfamily Delphacinae Leach, 1815, tribe Delphacini Leach, 1815, genus Delphacodes Fieber, 1866.

Delphacodes schinias is an extant taxon.

2. Delphacodes schinias Asche & Remane, 1983 geographical distribution and bioregions

According to the geographical TDWG standard (2001), Delphacodes schinias Asche & Remane, 1983 are known from the Palaearctic biogeographical region as defined by Wallace (1876). More precisely, they are distributed in the Eurasian zoogeographic region as defined by Holt (2013). Figures 1 and 2 display dynamic graphs showcasing the longitudinal and latitudinal profiles of Delphacodes schinias Asche & Remane, 1983 arround the across the globe according to their species richness. A scroll on the histogram bars displays the species richness of the corresponding regions.

3. Delphacodes schinias Asche & Remane, 1983 biological interactions

As all planthoppers, Delphacodes schinias Asche & Remane, 1983 are obligatory phytophagous terrestrial insects; they mainly feed on host plants belonging to the order: Poales (Cyperaceae, Poaceae).
Figure 3a depicts the orders of plants on which Delphacodes schinias Asche & Remane, 1983 feeds, and figure 3b the percentage they represent in the diet for the entire species. Figures 4a and 4b do the same more precisely for the family level of these plants.
