1. Conomelus anceps (Germar, 1821) taxonomy

Conomelus anceps (Germar, 1821) is currently considered as a valid taxon of species rank in the family Delphacidae Leach, 1815 of the Fulgoromorpha. This species was first described by Germar E. F. in 1821 in the following paper: Bemerkungen über einige Gattungen der Cicadarien. Magazin der Entomologie. Halle, 4: 1-106.

It is currently classified in family Delphacidae Leach, 1815, subfamily Delphacinae Leach, 1815, tribe Delphacini Leach, 1815, genus Conomelus Fieber, 1866, and it represents the type species for its genus.

Conomelus anceps is an extant taxon.

2. Conomelus anceps (Germar, 1821) geographical distribution and bioregions

According to the geographical TDWG standard (2001), Conomelus anceps (Germar, 1821) are known from the Nearctic and Palaearctic biogeographical regions as defined by Wallace (1876). More precisely, they are distributed in the Eurasian and North American zoogeographic regions as defined by Holt (2013). Figures 1 and 2 display dynamic graphs showcasing the longitudinal and latitudinal profiles of Conomelus anceps (Germar, 1821) arround the across the globe according to their species richness. A scroll on the histogram bars displays the species richness of the corresponding regions.

3. Conomelus anceps (Germar, 1821) biological interactions

As all planthoppers, Conomelus anceps (Germar, 1821) are obligatory phytophagous terrestrial insects; they mainly feed on host plants belonging to the order: Poales (Juncaceae).
Figure 3a depicts the orders of plants on which Conomelus anceps (Germar, 1821) feeds, and figure 3b the percentage they represent in the diet for the entire species. Figures 4a and 4b do the same more precisely for the family level of these plants.
