1. Nothodelphax distincta (Flor, 1861) taxonomy

Nothodelphax distincta (Flor, 1861) is currently considered as a valid taxon of species rank in the family Delphacidae Leach, 1815 of the Fulgoromorpha. This species was first described by Flor G. in 1861 in the following paper: Die Rhynchoten Livlands in systematischer Folge beschrieben. Zweiter Theil: Rhynchota gulaerostria Zett. (Homoptera Au.t). Cicadina und Psyllodea. Archiv für die Naturkunde Liv-, Ehst-und Kurlands. (Ser. 2), 4: 1-567.

It is currently classified in family Delphacidae Leach, 1815, subfamily Delphacinae Leach, 1815, tribe Delphacini Leach, 1815, genus Nothodelphax Fennah, 1963.

Nothodelphax distincta is an extant taxon.

2. Nothodelphax distincta (Flor, 1861) geographical distribution and bioregions

According to the geographical TDWG standard (2001), Nothodelphax distincta (Flor, 1861) are known from the Palaearctic biogeographical region as defined by Wallace (1876). More precisely, they are distributed in the Eurasian zoogeographic region as defined by Holt (2013). Figures 1 and 2 display dynamic graphs showcasing the longitudinal and latitudinal profiles of Nothodelphax distincta (Flor, 1861) arround the across the globe according to their species richness. A scroll on the histogram bars displays the species richness of the corresponding regions.

3. Nothodelphax distincta (Flor, 1861) biological interactions

As all planthoppers, Nothodelphax distincta (Flor, 1861) are obligatory phytophagous terrestrial insects; they mainly feed on host plants belonging to the order: Poales (Cyperaceae).
Figure 3a depicts the orders of plants on which Nothodelphax distincta (Flor, 1861) feeds, and figure 3b the percentage they represent in the diet for the entire species. Figures 4a and 4b do the same more precisely for the family level of these plants.
