1. Neotaxilana Synave, 1979 taxonomy

Neotaxilana Synave, 1979 is currently considered as a valid taxon of genus rank in the family Tropiduchidae Stål, 1866 of the Fulgoromorpha. This genus was first described by Synave H. in 1979 in the following paper: Description d'espèces nouvelles appartenant aux familles: Cercopidae, Cixiidae, Derbidae, Dictyopharidae et Tropiduchidae (Homoptera). Bulletin du Musée Royal d'Histoire Naturelle de Belgique. Bruxelles, 51(6) : 1-31.

It is currently classified in order Hemiptera Linné, 1758, suborder Fulgoromorpha Evans, 1946, superfamily Fulgoroidea Latreille, 1807, family Tropiduchidae Stål, 1866, subfamily Tropiduchinae Stål, 1866, tribe Tambiniini Kirkaldy, 1907.

Currently 3 species have been described in Neotaxilana, as summarized in Table 1.

The type species of the genus is Neotaxilana lamabokensis Synave, 1979.

Neotaxilana is an extant taxon.

2. Neotaxilana Synave, 1979 geographical distribution and bioregions

According to the geographical TDWG standard (2001), Neotaxilana Synave, 1979 are known from the Afrotropical biogeographical region as defined by Wallace (1876). More precisely, they are distributed in the African and Guineo-Congolian zoogeographic regions as defined by Holt (2013).
