1. Oliarus nigro-alutacea Fowler, 1904 taxonomy
Oliarus nigro-alutacea Fowler, 1904 is currently considered as a valid taxon of species rank in the family Cixiidae Spinola, 1839 of the Fulgoromorpha. This species was first described by Fowler W. W. in 1904 in the following paper: Order Rhynchota. Suborder Hemiptera-Homoptera. (Continued). Biologia Centrali-Americana; contributions to the knowledge of the fauna and flora of Mexico and Central America, 1: 85-124.
It is currently classified in order Hemiptera Linné, 1758, suborder Fulgoromorpha Evans, 1946, superfamily Delphacoidea Leach, 1815, family Cixiidae Spinola, 1839, subfamily Cixiinae Spinola, 1839, tribe Pentastirini Emeljanov, 1971, subtribe Pentastirina Emeljanov, 1971, genus Oliarus Stål, 1862.
Oliarus nigro-alutacea is an extant taxon.
2. Oliarus nigro-alutacea Fowler, 1904 geographical distribution and bioregions
According to the geographical TDWG standard (2001), Oliarus nigro-alutacea Fowler, 1904 are known from the biogeographical regions as defined by Wallace (1876). More precisely, they are distributed in the zoogeographic regions as defined by Holt (2013). Figures 1 and 2 display dynamic graphs showcasing the longitudinal and latitudinal profiles of Oliarus nigro-alutacea Fowler, 1904 arround the across the globe according to their species richness. A scroll on the histogram bars displays the species richness of the corresponding regions.
3. Oliarus nigro-alutacea Fowler, 1904 biological interactions
As all planthoppers, Oliarus nigro-alutacea Fowler, 1904 are obligatory phytophagous terrestrial insects.
