It is currently classified in order Hemiptera Linné, 1758, suborder Fulgoromorpha Evans, 1946, superfamily Fulgoroidea Latreille, 1807, family Flatidae Spinola, 1839, genus Cyclopterum Gnezdilov & O'Brien, 2014, and it represents the type species for its genus.
