1. Syndelphax humilis (Van Duzee, 1907) taxonomy

Syndelphax humilis (Van Duzee, 1907) is currently considered as a valid taxon of species rank in the family Delphacidae Leach, 1815 of the Fulgoromorpha. This species was first described by Van Duzee E. P. in 1907 in the following paper: Notes on Jamaican Hemiptera: A report on a collection of Hemiptera made on the Island of Jamaica in the spring of 1906. Bulletin of the Buffalo Society of Natural Sciences. Buffalo, N. Y, 8(5) : 3-79.

It is currently classified in order Hemiptera Linné, 1758, suborder Fulgoromorpha Evans, 1946, superfamily Delphacoidea Leach, 1815, family Delphacidae Leach, 1815, subfamily Delphacinae Leach, 1815, tribe Delphacini Leach, 1815, genus Syndelphax Fennah, 1963.

Syndelphax humilis is an extant taxon.

2. Syndelphax humilis (Van Duzee, 1907) geographical distribution and bioregions

According to the geographical TDWG standard (2001), Syndelphax humilis (Van Duzee, 1907) are known from the Nearctic and Neotropical biogeographical regions as defined by Wallace (1876). More precisely, they are distributed in the Amazonian, North American, Panamanian and South American zoogeographic regions as defined by Holt (2013). Figures 1 and 2 display dynamic graphs showcasing the longitudinal and latitudinal profiles of Syndelphax humilis (Van Duzee, 1907) arround the across the globe according to their species richness. A scroll on the histogram bars displays the species richness of the corresponding regions.

3. Syndelphax humilis (Van Duzee, 1907) biological interactions

As all planthoppers, Syndelphax humilis (Van Duzee, 1907) are obligatory phytophagous terrestrial insects.
