1. Avephora eugeniae (Stål, 1859) taxonomy
Avephora eugeniae (Stål, 1859) is currently considered as a valid taxon of species rank in the family Dictyopharidae Spinola, 1839 of the Fulgoromorpha. This species was first described by Stål C. in 1859 in the following paper: Hemiptera. Species novas descripsit. Fregatten Eugenies Resa. Arkiv for Zoologi. Utgifvet af K. Svenska Vetenskaps-akademien. Stockholm, 4: 219-298.
It is currently classified in order Hemiptera Linné, 1758, suborder Fulgoromorpha Evans, 1946, superfamily Fulgoroidea Latreille, 1807, family Dictyopharidae Spinola, 1839, subfamily Dictyopharinae Spinola, 1839, tribe Dictyopharini Spinola, 1839, genus Avephora Bierman, 1910, and it represents the type species for its genus.
Avephora eugeniae is an extant taxon.
2. Avephora eugeniae (Stål, 1859) geographical distribution and bioregions
According to the geographical TDWG standard (2001), Avephora eugeniae (Stål, 1859) are known from the Oriental and Palaearctic biogeographical regions as defined by Wallace (1876). More precisely, they are distributed in the Chinese, Eurasian, Indo-Malayan and Oriental zoogeographic regions as defined by Holt (2013). Figures 1 and 2 display dynamic graphs showcasing the longitudinal and latitudinal profiles of Avephora eugeniae (Stål, 1859) arround the across the globe according to their species richness. A scroll on the histogram bars displays the species richness of the corresponding regions.
3. Avephora eugeniae (Stål, 1859) biological interactions
As all planthoppers, Avephora eugeniae (Stål, 1859) are obligatory phytophagous terrestrial insects.
